Toba Explosion

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory

"According to the genetic bottleneck theory, between 50,000 and 100,000 years ago, human populations sharply decreased to 3,000–10,000 surviving individuals.  It is supported by genetic evidence suggesting that today's humans are descended from a very small population of between 1,000 to 10,000 breeding pairs that existed about 70,000 years ago."

For whatever reason this Genetic Bottleneck has me wondering how much stock we can put in fad Paleodiets.  The constriction of genetic diversity would cause many formerly abundant, or more importantly rare, traits to disappear. Allergies, lactose and gluten intolerances, among other dietary strategies may have greatly lessened.  Or perhaps these are the ones we were left with after the severe reduction in diversity.  Imagine the aversions that may have disappeared.
